What a lot of fun Book Week has been. Our school library looks great and has been rethemed "Books are Windows into Worlds". There were lots of fun activities this week at school, we loved having Juliette MacIver visit and share her books with us.
We were lucky to have her read her newest book Gwendolyn to us...we were the first children in New Zealand to see this book...can't wait for it to hit the shops!
We love her Maramaduke stories .. it was very cool when she sang her song to us ...

J is for Jan
Welcome back to the first week of term. Hard to believe we are in the last term for the year!
This week we wrote stories about our wonderful librarian Jan. They will be entered in a competition at the Children's Bookshop.
All the students thought hard about the great things Jan does to make our Library so awesome. It is one of our favourite places to go. They also worked hard to publish their stories. Well done Room 6.

D is for Dot!
Yah for International Dot Day....September 15th. We had an awesome time at Redwood School today...the kids looked awesome in their spotty dots and we did some cool dotty learning!!
Maths was all about subitizing...lots of good learning recognising dot patterns.
Thanks to the PFG for the dots of pikelets for morning tea.
The kids were all mixed up and went all across the school to different classes to do all kinds of fun art activities.
We spent the afternoon making our own version of the Press Here book....you will have to stop by and take a read.
THEN we had another treat....Lexi had read the book You Can Make a Happy Cake, and guess what...she did...Thanks Lexi, your happy cake sure made us happy on Dot Day!

B is for Book Swap
We had a great time at the book swap at the end of Term 2. I hope everyone has enjoyed their new story over the holidays.
Our school library initiates the book swap. It encourages the children to donate a pre-loved book and in exchange the children receive a book swap token. The token is like currency on book swap day. The children have a great time selecting some holiday reading.

B is for busy.
We were busy in Room 6 today! It is the start of Book Week at Redwood School and our theme this year is Let Books Open Doors For You.
We have started the week with a visit from a local author and illustrator Ruth Paul. We love her books and she gave a great presentation. It was very inspiring.
We also had our class and individual photos taken in the school hall. The photographers do a great job, and it is quite fascinating how they put the class photo together.
We also worked on decorating our door, we did reading groups, and had a special visit from Mrs Hughes who came in and read to us.
Wow and this is only Monday!!
